We Warmly Welcome Pastor Robert Taylor
We’re thrilled to welcome Pastor Robert Taylor to the Alberta Conference! Starting August 1st, Robert will be the pastor of two congregations – Edmonton North and Abundant Life. Robert recently graduated from Burman University with his BA in Religious Studies. He is married to Verneka, his lovely wife of 14 years. They have three wonderful children: Edyn (12), Sarai (9), and Caleb (5).
Robert worked in the banking sector in the Bahamas for almost 20 years before answering the call to pastoral ministry. He was employed in the Financial and Business Planning division, where He served in various capacities as Senior Reconciliation, Funding Officer, and Supervisor. His chief responsibilities involved the preparation of financial statements for internal management and external fiduciary agencies, managing the bank's Long-term asset portfolio, maintaining the ledger accounts for local and international credit card accounts, and monitoring the Bahamian dollar position against foreign currencies. The President of the Bank tried hard to entice Robert to stay by offering him a lucrative package to remain at the bank. Robert declined the offer and embraced God’s call to become a pastor.
Likewise, Verneka left a 15-year professional career in education, so the Taylor family could move to Lacombe, and Robert could study Theology at Burman. Robert is so thankful for the loving support of Verneka and their children. The Taylors enjoy playing board games, singing songs, worshiping, watching movies, laughing, and taking vacations together. Since coming to Canada, they have also been exploring walking trails and learning how to ice skate.
Robert joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the age of 17, and has been active in local church ministries ever since. He has served in virtually every office of the church, with the exception of the Women’s Ministry. He worked with a team of laypeople to establish several church plants in the Bahamas. He also produced two radio shows and participated for seven years in another program on the island’s first Christian radio station. Robert’s passion is to see individuals and families eternally saved for the kingdom of God. Robert says, “I am fully aware that I cannot do this work alone. Please pray for me as I pray for you, that the love of God will forever permeate our souls, transforming our lives and communities for His glory and honour.”
