The 10 Days of Prayer for Work

Those struggling with work issues and those supporting people struggling with work issues are invited to the 10 Days of Prayer for Work. From January 22 to January 31, we will gather together at 7 pm for 45 minutes over Zoom. We will call on God for employment, for provision, for peace, for direction, for discernment, for capability, for success, for excellence, for patience, for fulfillment, and for trust in God, no matter what He allows to happens next concerning our employment! To take part, register at albertaadventist.ca/work. For more information, email at prayerministries@albertaadventist.ca.

The average person will spend a third of their lifetimes at work - 90,000 hours! We spend more time at work than with our families (unless you work with your family!) For many of us, God provides our financial needs through our jobs, and often we find satisfaction and esteem in fulfilling work well done. And Deuteronomy 28:8 suggests that God can bless all of your work - everything you put your hand to do! Work plays a huge role in our lives.

So it's a drag when things aren't going well at your job. When you're not meeting your goals. When you can't handle a particular task. When you miss deadlines. When your role stops being rewarding, and instead becomes dreary. When your company isn't succeeding. When you are overworked and underpaid. When you are treated unfairly. When you are rebuked and rejected for representing God. When you have a frustrating co-worker at your job (this never happens in the Alberta Conference) . When you have a frustrating boss at your job (this also never happens in the Alberta Conference). Or when you have no job at all. Solomon said that finding satisfaction in your work was a gift of God (Ecclesiastes 3:12,13). So why is work sometimes so awful?

As with all complications and challenges, the answer to work frustrations is prayer. We don't know exactly how He will answer, but we are sure He will answer you and address your concerns about work!

So let’s follow Jeremiah 33:3 and call on God in prayer about our work situations, or that of our loved ones. He will answer us. And He’ll show us great and mysterious things about us and work.
